Why CI Cover

Collect once. E-sign. Done in one sitting.

Most sites give you a quote, then “an advisor will reach out” — days of phone tag, then they re-ask everything and re-type it into the carrier’s form. We collect what’s needed once, you e-sign, and we file it.

  • Collect once. Your quote answers pre-fill the application — no double entry.
  • Only the right questions. Smart branching skips what doesn’t apply to you.
  • No account, no card. Nothing to create, nothing to pay to see your price or apply.
  • A real human, on your schedule. You pick the phone-interview window; we line it up.
  • Ontario-focused & licensed. Hayes Family Insurance, FSRA licensed (Ontario).
  • Handled securely. Health details go to an encrypted system — never emailed in the clear.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Is this a real price or a rough estimate?

Real premiums, pulled from 10 Canadian insurers’ current critical illness rates for your age, sex, tobacco status, coverage amount and term. Final pricing is confirmed by the insurer at underwriting — we flag anything that could change it before you apply.

Can I actually buy critical illness coverage online right now?

Critical illness is medically underwritten, so no one can bind full coverage in one click. What we do differently: you finish the entire application in about 5 minutes, e-sign, and a licensed Ontario advisor files it with the insurer for you — usually the same day — then books your underwriting phone interview for a time you choose.

What does a critical illness policy actually pay?

A tax-free lump sum on diagnosis of a covered condition — most plans cover cancer, heart attack and stroke, and many cover 20 to 44 conditions. The money is yours to use for anything: income replacement, treatment, mortgage payments, or time off to recover.

Do I need a medical exam?

Often no. Many plans are no-exam for common coverage amounts; most finish underwriting with a short recorded phone interview (about 15–25 minutes) with a nurse. Our form only asks what your situation needs, and we help you prepare for the call.

What does it cost me to use an advisor?

Nothing. The insurer pays the advisor a commission built into the standard policy price — the same price you’d pay going direct. You get someone comparing 10 insurers for you and in your corner at claim time, at no extra cost.

How is this different from the critical illness coverage my bank offers on my mortgage?

Bank mortgage critical illness pays the lender, shrinks as your mortgage shrinks, and ends if you switch lenders. A personal CI policy pays you a lump sum you own and keep, at a fixed amount, that moves with you. We can show both so you can compare.

Who are you, and are you licensed?

CI Cover is operated by Cameron Hayes of Hayes Family Insurance, a family-run Ontario brokerage, FSRA licensed. You deal with a licensed human advisor, not a call centre — and critical illness is all we focus on here.

Is my personal and health information safe?

Yes. Your instant price needs no account or email. When you apply, your application and health details are sent over an encrypted connection to a secure system — never emailed around in the clear — and used only to prepare and submit your application. See our privacy policy for details.
